Dr. Jennifer Del Mundo
Psych #29261
Dr. Del Mundo is a licensed psychologist who works collaboratively with her clients to help them achieve their personal goals for growth, healing, and change. She is trained as a cognitive-behavioral therapist but is also influenced by systemic, humanistic, and attachment theories. Thus, her approach to therapy is eclectic and at times, directive, and she adapts well to the individual needs of each client. She believes people are inherently good and have a natural drive to move towards growth. Dr. Del Mundo finds it important to understand clients within the contexts of their relationships, culture, past, and belief systems. Treatment is often present focused and helps clients discover what they can do now to change. Therapy aims to modify maladaptive patterns of thinking and behavior, develop skills for managing distress, improve the quality of relationships, and better one’s sense of self. She provides a comfortable and nonjudgmental therapeutic environment where clients feel understood and can express themselves freely.
Dr. Del Mundo has immersed herself in the field of psychology since 2002, and she has been in clinical practice since 2006. She completed her B.A. in Psychology at the University of California, San Diego in 2005 and subsequently completed her M.A. in Marital and Family Therapy as well as her Doctorate of Psychology at Alliant International University in Irvine, California. Her dissertation about Filipino American women was published as a book chapter in Transition and Change in Collectivist Family Life: Strategies for Clinical Practice with Asian Americans. She is also certified as a Managing and Adapting Practices (MAP) clinician and has knowledge of evidence-based practices for therapy.
In addition to working with individual adult clients, she has extensive experience working with families and minors. She particularly enjoys treating clients struggling with:
- Depression
- Anxiety
- Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
- Anger
